Head Baker- Glasslipper Homebakes

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced baker/decorator with at least one year of previous experience in a bakery, who strives to provide excellent baked items and service in an efficient, professional manner. As Head Baker, you will execute and improve recipes, perform quality checks on ingredients and finished products, and process orders from customers. You will also interact with customers, answer questions, and perform other duties to ensure that customer needs are satisfied and the bakery is operating smoothly. It is also the baker’s responsibility to make note of when supplies are running low so that an order can be made. 

To be successful in this position, you should be skilled, creative, efficient and friendly; with a focus on food quality and customer satisfaction. You should have work experience as a baker and be able to decorate cakes using creative techniques. 


Role and Responsibilities

  • Follow existing recipes.
  • Measure and combine ingredients and use mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
  • Decorate, glaze, apply icing, and prepare toppings for baked goods.
  • Ensure food surfaces and baking equipment meet all health and safety standards.
  • Evaluate ingredients and food for quality.
  • Keep records relating to deliveries, inventory, and production levels.
  • Interact with customers, answer questions, make recommendations, accept orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Take client information and ensuring that deliveries are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate other kitchen staff.
  • Create new recipes.


Qualification and Education Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
  • Certification from a culinary school is a plus


Preferred Skills

  • Ability to read and follow recipes.
  • Experience with cake decoration techniques 
  • Creativity in crafting new baked goods.
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders, etc.
  • Flexibility to work around customer demands, including early morning, night, weekend and holiday availability 
  • Strong communication skill, with a customer-focused attitude
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Ability to work in hot, hectic environment, stand, walk, bend, use hands and appliances
  • Attention to detail is key.
  • Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create amazing baked goods.
  • Understanding of food safety practices.
